Rotational Molding, aka roto-molding is one area of expertise here at Met-L-Flo. Although one way of utilizing
rotational molding is through the use of thermoplastics, we primarily use urethanes. We have found that this has worked better for our clients, allowing us to use a variety of materials.
The process works by rotating a mold to create a thin coat, creating a hollow part. Once the material coats the interior of the tool and sets, the part is removed and finished. Over-Molding takes place during Rotational Molding to add additional features that wouldn't be possible with just one process and incorporates them seamlessly.
Roto-Molding is perfect for testing parts and their performance in the system. These functional parts require minimal finishing.
